From July 17–31, 2021, the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Barbuda executed an attack against the kingdom of darkness. Understanding these times, in which individuals and households are forced to survive amidst dismal situations, the Church seized the opportunity to offer hope. As a result, The Harvest Is Ripe Evangelistic Series was launched.
The series featured Evangelist Davin Scarborough, pastor of the Barbuda district. Some of the topics that he presented on were: “Barbuda's Got Talent”, “Kiss Me Again, Nuh Baby”, and “Plenty Woman an’ a Lil’ Bit o’ Man”.
With Elder Dorothy Joseph and Elder Anthea Nedd managing the campaign, the effort was a great success. Also contributing to the success of the campaign was the collaboration of the youth and seniors in the various aspects of the series.
Highlights from the series included lifestyle improvement seminars, lovers’ night, a talent expo, and daily quizzes. The quizzes, which were conducted by Alvita Scarborough, captivated members and visitors alike. With each quiz being based on the previous sermon, attendees looked forward to the questions with great expectation. Additionally, at the following service, the answers from the previous quiz were revealed. This gave motivation to all participants as they could figure out how well they were doing.
At the end of the series, several champions emerged. They were all handsomely awarded by the crusade team. These included: Eden Beazer (youth with the most visitors), Candacy Beazer (adult with the most visitors), Simone Simon (person who named all the sermons). The more celebrated awardees were the top three finalists from the quiz: Janet Richardson (3rd place), Emily Simon (2nd place), and Ridge Taylor (1st place). However, the Grand Champion of the series was none other than God Himself! Through the power of His Spirit, eight precious souls surrendered to Him!
Overall, The Harvest Is Ripe Evangelistic Series has been a great blessing to all who experienced it. As the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Barbuda continues to expand, the members stand ready to preach the word of God in season and out of season so that many may find hope and prepare for the soon return of Jesus Christ.
