For anyone seeking a spiritual awakening, and a bringing of others to Christ, then the St. Kitts Adventurers Revival Week, Adventurer Day and Investiture Service provided the best opportunities during the week of Sunday, May 9 – Saturday, May 15, 2021. These programs were aimed at showcasing the Adventurers abilities, while at the same time leading others to know God. This week-long event was a treasure trove for the residents of St. Kitts and those who tuned in via social media and other online platforms. It is stated in Luke 14:23, “And the Lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”
The church room and online room were abuzz with excitement as Adventurers shared the word of the Lord through praise, prayer, and preaching. The audience left the programs being renewed and refreshed. It was six nights and one morning of the outpouring of God’s love under the theme “I Will Go”. Eleven guest speakers presented messages on this theme.
The week opened on Sunday, May 9, at the Cayon Seventh-day Adventist Church, with online audiences and an in-person audience. The Philly Boys kicked off the week of activities with a word of prayer. The guest speaker for the evening Dillion Caines, introduced everyone to the story of Jonah. The story of Jonah featured for four nights. Ambriel Claxton highlighted more about Jonah on night two, followed by Glenva Harrigan on night three and K’Syl Dore and Kiyanna Maynard on night four. They highlighted how Jonah was reluctant to do God’s bidding at first but eventually conceded and allowed God to lead him to preach the good news in Ninevah.
The Adventurers were not fearful of the crowd. They did an amazing job and because of that they were able to bless and inspire others to spread the goods news of God. Night five continued with Kateva Warren speaking about Ruth in her message. Kateva presented a heartfelt message to the audience about Ruth’s compassion, courage, boldness and integrity.
On night six, two guest speakers, Condell Anthony and Jesminder Gilbert, took to the stage. The speakers mentioned several excuses people make when they do not want to heed God’s call to action. They instructed the church to always listen to God’s call.
Every night during the week, different clubs were featured. On the opening night, the revival service was conducted by the Mount Moriah and Sandy Point Adventurer clubs. Monday’s revival was led by Basseterre, followed by Philadelphia on Tuesday, Old Road on Wednesday, Molineux on Thursday, and Cayon on Friday. Most of the items on the program were presented by the Adventurers. However, the pastor and Adventurers directors assisted with some of the preliminaries such as the welcome and closing prayers.
Finally, it was day seven. The Adventurers were filled with excitement from the previous six nights of glory to the Lord. The day started with inspection of the troops, followed by a video presentation highlighting the work that the Adventurers accomplished throughout the year. This was followed by the procession of flags led by Drill Major Eric Browne. The Adventurers marched into the hall in all their splendor, to the song “Onward Christian Soldiers”. Procession of flags were immediately followed by the singing of the national anthem, Adventurer Pledge, Adventurer Law and the Adventurer’s Song. The master of ceremonies, Lamar Moore then opened the program. Afterwards, an adventurer from Los Tres Angeles led the congregation in a word of prayer.
The congregation clapped, raised their hands, danced, swayed, and sang along to all the songs introduced and led by the Praise Team. Dillion Caines, from the Mount Moriah Adventurer club, then came forward and pleasantly welcomed everyone. He was closely ensued by two Adventurers from Philadelphia with a poem which gave instructions to go into the highways and byways to spread the good news every day, before it is too late.
The Scripture reading was taken from the book of Ruth chapter 1 and verse 16 and was read by a Molineux Adventurer. It was then time for the theme song, “I will Go”, sung by the Adventurers and the worshipers. Elder McLeish then led the churchgoers in the prayer of consecration. An offertory gift was taken by Old Road and Sandy Point Adventurers. Then it was story time, which all about the spider. A Philadelphia Adventurer then introduced the speakers which was followed by special music by the Basseterre Adventurers Club. The Basseterre Adventurers energized the audience with their action song.
It was electric when the first speaker for the day took the stage. G’nia Gift from the Basseterre Adventurer Club was especially rousing as she presented her message, the title was “The Greatest Gift, Who Will Share? I Will Go”. Her message was strong, bold, succinct and fiery. G’nia was eloquent and highly ornate in her delivery. The speaker encouraged all to display the greatest gift, Jesus proudly. Ivonje Nisbett from the Philadelphia Club then took the stage and encouraged all to shine their light brightly for Christ. Ivonje, though concise, his message resonated with the audience. He was plain and outspoken when he emboldened the audience to endeavor to shine that light wherever they may go. The final speaker for the morning was Jalencia Percival. Jalencia, who hails from Phillips, encouraged all to spread the good news. Her slogan was “Extra, extra, read all about God” “Extra, extra, tell all about God”. Jalencia’s sermon was beautifully Pentecostal in nature. It was especially warm, beautiful and inspiring. Jalencia commanded us all to be super spreaders of God’s message near and far.
The Adventurers Day service then closed with words of thanks from a Basseterre Adventurer. Afterwards, the Investiture Service began. Pastor Hastings provided the Youth Director’s message, followed by presentation of the candidates by Island Coordinator, Clarissa Harvey. For the years 2019 – 2021, there have been 177 Adventurers on the island of St. Kitts. Pastor Adams, Island Coordinator, then conveyed the charge to the candidates. The Master Guides presented the insignias and Pastor Adams led the closing prayer. After the service, the Adventurers distributed thirty food hampers to the less fortunate in their communities. All these activities were done under the umbrella of “I Will Go”.
The St. Kitts Adventurers did a wonderful job leading souls to Christ and imparting wisdom and love. It was seven glorious days. Everyone, far and wide, was talking about the week of revival, the Adventurer Day and Investiture Service long after the week was over. Faith was renewed, and souls were blessed. God was on the move.
