Second Advent Radio Ministries 101.5 FM commenced broadcast in 2004 at Gunthropes by original owners (a Seventh-day Adventist couple) Mr. and Mrs. Alfred and Mable Lake of Gunthropes ably assisted by Engineer Mr. Osta Francis and his assistant Mr. Elderfield Peters.
During that time, a number of volunteers assisted with the day to day operations where they were closely connected as one big, happy family.
After a few years in operation, the Lake’s decided to sell the Radio Station. Although other persons showed interest, the preference was given to the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The Coordinating Council which was the governing body for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Antigua at that time, purchased the Radio Station and acquired full ownership on 1st February 2009. The first home under new ownership for this media outlet was at the Seventh-day Adventist property at Gilberts.
Due to financial constraints, the Coordinating Council was able to employ only one (1) worker, who, along with some of the original volunteers, channeled the course for 1 year after which a Station Manager was employed.
To date, Second Advent continues to forge ahead by the grace of God, as a close knitted family with two fulltime staff, approximately 15 Volunteers and a few honorary volunteers.
Additionally, the success would not have been possible had it not been for the support and contribution of the North Caribbean Conference, the South Leeward Mission, ardent listeners, supporters and members of the various congregations.
Whether through the website www.secondadventradio.org, on the tunein radio app or on our radio frequency 101.5FM, this Ministry has been blessing the hearts of numerous individuals on a daily basis inclusive of a high ratio of persons who are not of our faith.
As the Radio Station (now located in its permanent home at the South Leeward Mission Headquarters on American Road) readies itself to celebrate 10 years being owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church on 1st February, 2019, your continued support is anticipated.
May God bless us all as together we continue to spread the Everlasting Gospel.
