The Antigua Seventh-day Adventist Primary School’s Career Day, 2021, was a remarkable success. The students were professionally dressed in their chosen career field outfits or uniforms and their elation was evident. This annual event took place on the morning of May 21, 2021, and was led by the principal, Mr. Robert Nicholas. Students eagerly awaited the reality of this day as it was cancelled last year due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, the euphoria of enthusiastic students resonated throughout the campus as they greeted their peers. Interestingly, amidst all the excitement of students, the highlight of the day somehow shifted from the students to the teachers.
Students were captivated by the staff and the education director of the South Leeward Conference, Dr. Eulalie Semper, who were all smartly dressed in the Seventh-day Adventist Secondary School uniform, donned with backpacks in some cases. The curiosity was evident on all the faces of the primary and secondary school students as they keenly watched the staff, who looked like their peers. They could not anticipate the reality of the dress code of the staff for the day.
Later that morning, the students were taken around the block of the school in a march, accompanied by the SDA drum core. The enthusiastic students marched in their bubbles as they displayed future lawyers, pastors, doctors, astronauts, police officer’s and many more professions. Even the principal of the secondary school, Mrs. Cheryl Morris, left her office to take in the awesome display of professionals and teachers dressed as students.
As the day ended, students, teachers and parents were encouraged by what they witnessed and gave words of commendation for the day. Truly Adventist education at its best.
